The Congregation of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart celebrated the 160th birth anniversary of the servant of God Mother Maria Teresa Nuzzo, the Foundress of the Congregation, on 7th May 2011, at the parish church of Mellieha.
His Eminence Mgr Tommaso Caputo the Apostolic Nuncio for Malta was the main celebrant. It was well participated by the religious, priests, Flames of Love Associates of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart and the relatives of the Foundress Mother Maria Teresa Nuzzo. His Eminence Mgr Tommaso Caputo spoke of the high spirituality lived by the Foundress.
Her virtue of humility was seen as the foundation of her spirituality, which she lived with a joyful self-giving. She was seen as a person filled with the joy of the Risen Lord. The joy that led her to live her life with cheerfulness, in the midst of all her sufferings and pains of life. The celebration was given a pleasant conclusion with a simple and homely reception at the convent at Mellieha.
