13th GENERAL CHAPTER -15TH JUNE-15TH JULY 2007

 

DAUGHTERS OF THE SACRED HEART - MALTA

 

The Congregation Daughters of the Sacred Heart gathered in Malta for their 13th General Chapter on 15th June 2007 in the Generalate house. This international Congregation had delegates coming from India, Malta, Kenya and Korea. There were 25 delegates in all. The agenda for the Chapter was election of the governing body of the Congregation and the Revision of the Constitutions of the Congregation.

 

The Chapter opened with a Eucharistic celebration of the Holy Spirit by the Archbishop of Malta, Mgr. Paul Cremona O.P. This was celebrated in corporation of the culture of India, Malta and Kenya. Thereafter the Superior General delivered her inaugural speech and declared the Chapter open.

 

On 25th June the capitulants spend an hour of adoration and at the end of it elected their Superior General in the presence of the Archbishop of Malta. Sr. Catherine Seychell was re-elected as the Superior General.

 

On the following day, the election of the Councillors and the Bursar took place.

Sr. Pauline Farrugia was elected as the vicar General

Sr. Adelina Grima as the second Councillor

Sr. Lilian Thomas – the Secretary General

Sr. Prassede Farrugia – 4th Councillor

Sr. Genrosa Parnis – the Bursar General

 

During this Chapter the Daughters Of The Sacred Heart revised their Constitutions. After a thorough evaluation they formulated a six-year programme for the Congregation. This includes new trends and future expansions of the Congregation. May the Lord, who accompanied the sisters during this chapter bring this plan to fruition for his glory and for the benefit of the Church and humanity.
