Provincial Chapter (Malta Province)

April 2010 was a special event in the Province of Malta, about thirty capitulars who represented different apostolates of the Province gathered together in the name of the Lord to discuss and decide on the present situation and then move forward keeping in mind our Spirit and Charism.

Our Superior General, Sr. Catherine Seychell presided the chapter with diligence and love. On the part of the participants, they allowed the Holy Spirit to lead them in the right direction and all other members supported them with prayers and sacrifices.

It was a precious time for all the members of the Province to renew the call with enthusiasm and zeal, keeping in mind the common good of the Province, and become more and more a prophetical sign in our Apostolates. Let us be a living sign in the world today by following the footsteps of our dear Foundress Maria Teresa Nuzzo.

Celebration of Foundress Day

On 24 April , at Marsaxlokk Parish Church, the Province of Malta celebrated our dear Mother Foundress 87th death Anniversary through a solemn mass and adoration. Many people from different walks of life and different areas of the island, joined us on this occasion. It was a moment of grace. Long live our Foundress in the hearts of all who call upon her name with faith and trust.

On 22-23 April Teresa Nuzzo School at Marsa (Malta) celebrated its annual School Celebration. The children showed their different talents and ability through a very interesting play entitled the Page Maker and some meaningful songs.

Establishment of the Delegation in South India

The Province of India is proud to have established a new delegation in South India under the leadership of our Provincial Superior Sr. Laeticia and her council in collaboration with the Superior General Sr. Catherine Seychell.On 27 January 2010 during a beautiful Eucharistic celebration, Superior General Sr. Cathrine Seychell read the decree of the erection of the delegation followed by Sr. Laetitia Cardoza read the appointment of Sr. Mariella Cyriac as the delegate Superior.It was a very remarkable day as many of the DSH Sisters from almost all the communities of the Province and friends and well wishers were present to witness the occasion. The delegation is named Teresa Nuzzo after our beloved Foundress.

Ground Breaking Ceremony

It was a warm and bright summer morning in the Philippines on the 25th of March 2010. A small group comprising of three Sisters of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart and their friends and well wishers gathered on the foothills of Mount Samat. They were to witness the ground breaking ceremony of the new convent on the lot acquired recently by the Daughters of the Sacred Heart in Bataan.The ceremony was officiated by His Excellency, Archbishop Socrates B.Villegas. The presence of the previous owners, Mr. & Mrs. Abello,added joy to all present in the ceremony. The Archbishop got the attention of the people present to realize that they are standing on holy ground because God has been here even before any one of us came in. And that this place will continue to be even after all of us are gone.It was indeed a simple ceremony but a very important one for theDaughters of the Sacred Heart. This is the first phase of the project.The next phase is to build the Formation Center for the youth. All these dreams entirely depend on Gods providence. We are confident that God will provide and that the project will bear fruit for Gods glory.

Every year Theresa Nuzzo staff and children make sure they show theirlove and gratitude to their beloved parents in a special way byorganising a school concert. This year our tiny tots put up awonderful... and showed their creativity and various talents in hounour of their parents.

East Africa Region : Regional Conference 2010
The Region of East Africa held its second Regional Conference in the month of May 2010. Sr. Catherine Seychell, Superior General of the Congregation presided over the conference. About 34 members actively took part and others supported by their prayers and sacrifices. It was a very successful meeting as the Region touched the realities of life; and showed the desire to implement, to grow and move towards the set goals. The theme was moving to the future and growing deeper.During the conference the Region focused on different aspects like community life, prayer life, vocation recruitment, formation of DSH in general, vows, apostolate, financial, administration, were studied focusing on the goal, areas of concern, and remedies that need to be implemented as individuals, communities and as a Region for the coming years in the light of the Foundress life, spirit and charism.

East Africa Region : Regional Conference 2010

General Conference 2010
The Congregation of Daughters of the Sacred Heart, whose mother house is in Malta, held their General Conference between 2 and 21 August 2010. The theme for the conference was study of the directives for the lay Associates. It was attended by the entire Congregation through representatives from Malta Province, India Province, India delegation, East Africa Region, Generalate communities from Dallas and Philippines. Altogether 20 delegates participated in the conference. The Conference formulated Directives for the Lay Associates, which the Congregation has already set up in some places. From now on the lay associates of the Congregation are known as The Flames of Love associates. The conference also provided rich and varied experiences of spiritual, cultural and social heritage of different places. There was a depth of richness in diversity. It provided a soul touching experience as all the participants brought their love, talents and commitment and stood united under the banner of the burning heart of Jesus. It was a commitment made to spread the love, devotion and spirituality of the pierced Heart of Jesus, while moving in the spirit and footsteps of the Foundress Servant of God Maria Teresa Nuzzo.

Our heartfelt prayers and sincere congratulations to our postulants Sharon Micallef and Maria Sheila Desmbrana who took a further step of discernment in their formation to become a member of the DSH family. In preparation for the novitiate Sr. Pauline Farrugia directed them for six days on discipleship as she insisted on the call of Jesus to take ones own cross and follow him, leaving behind the nets that we are so familiar with in our day to day life. During this period of discernment they will respond to the call of Jesus more radically and commit themselves to deepen their encounter with Jesus in a more personal and profound way.
